Adjacent gold nanotriangles were site-selectively welded into one nanoparticle by light illumination. The created nanostructure, like a “butterfly”, realizes modulation of the LSPR in nanoparticles, including the localized spots and resonant wavelength. The generation of a LSPR mode by welding of nanotriangles can enable multicolor sensing and light-harvesting applications. View the article.
