Structure-function Relationships of Porous Ionic Crystals (PICs) Based on Polyoxometalate Anions and Oxo-centered Trinuclear Metal Carboxylates as Counter Cations

In this review, structure-function relationships of "porous ionic crystals (PICs)" based on polyoxometlates (POMs) and oxo-centered trinuclear metal carboxylates (macrocations) as discrete ionic components are summarized. The pore structures and environments of PICs can be systematically tuned by appropriate choices of ionic components, and the functionalized PICs show unique functions in gas/solvent sorption/separation, heterogeneous catalysis, redox-induced ion-uptake/release, synthesis of mixed-valance metal nanoclusters, and so on.

Prof. Uchida is an associate professor at the department of basic science, The University of Tokyo since 2009. Her work focuses on the synthesis of functional solid-state materials based on polyoxometalates.
