Pauli String Partitioning Algorithm with the Ising Model for Simultaneous Measurements

Simultaneous measurement of Pauli strings is a crucial factor in the efficiency of molecular energy calculations using a variational quantum eigensolver (VQE). However, partitioning a large number of Pauli strings into the most effective subgroups for simultaneous measurements is a hard optimization problem. Here, an efficient partitioning algorithm using the Ising model is developed, which drastically reduces overall VQE runtime.
